Senator Kelly Ayotte is up 4 points over her Democratic challenger Governor Maggie Hassan in the latest WMUR Granite State Poll released yesterday.  The poll was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. Ayotte’s 45%-41% lead is in line with the RealClear Politics average of recent polls showing Ayotte ahead by 4.5%.  The poll’s results were just outside the margin of error.

Highlighting the fluidity of the race still eight months away, just 19% of likely voters say they have definitely decided who they will support in the race while 73% of respondents indicated they are still trying to decide.

The poll found that both candidates have similar approval ratings with Ayotte enjoying a net favorability rating of +16% and Hassan boasting a +20% net favorability rating.  In a sign that the campaign is heating up, both candidates net approvals were down from UNH’s last poll in October.

Sen. Ayotte is currently in state doing public events with two other female U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (WV) and Joni Ernst (IA).  Yesterday the trio were in Derry and today they are in North Havervhill, Meredith, and Goffstown.  They are all expected to attend a private finance event tonight in Bedford.
