The California governor’s office recently released a statement saying that his state will be making a “just transition away from fossil fuels.” And by “just” the governor does mean “righteous.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the phase out of gasoline-powered cars by the year 2035 — five years too late to save the earth according to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he will aggressively move the state further away from its reliance on climate change-causing fossil fuels while retaining and creating jobs and spurring economic growth — he issued an executive order requiring sales of all new passenger vehicles to be zero-emission by 2035 and additional measures to eliminate harmful emissions from the transportation sector,” Newsom’s statement said.

“This is the most impactful step our state can take to fight climate change,” Newsom said, but is it enough for the Democrat Party’s extreme environmentalist wing?

According to fellow Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Newsom’s actions will be five years too late to save anything: “Millennials, and Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us, are looking up and we’re like ‘the world will end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?’” Ocasio-Cortez said nearly two years ago, putting her earth-ending timetable at approximately 2030.

Marc Morano, producer of the documentary film “Climate Hustle 2” www.ClimateHustle2.com, calls the governor’s actions nothing more than a public display of environmental faith:

“Gov. Newsom is once again punishing Californians to fight ‘climate change.’ Newsom is going the route of executive order because the legislature would not support a ban on gas-powered cars. All of Newsom’s virtue signaling will do nothing for the climate but will further hammer Californians already suffering from the state’s draconian COVID lockdowns. Electric cars are in many ways more harmful to the environment than conventional cars,” Morano told InsideSources in an exclusive interview.

Morano says that at some point California citizens will decide that environmentalism has gone too far:

“The San Francisco Chronicle reports that fewer than 6% of cars sold in California in 2019 fall under the governor’s zero-emission standard. So how does he plan to ban 94% of the cars? Will Californians allow this? At what point will residents of California tell politicians to take their climate agenda and shove it?” Morano asks.

Critics of doomsday climate predictions say that drastic claims such as that of Ocasio-Cortez create skepticism of their kind of science because deadlines come and go and the predicted doom never occurs.

For example, former Vice President Al Gore predicted in 2008 that by 2013 the Arctic would be ice-free — it was not and, of course, still is not. However, world leaders continue to tilt at windmills that critics say are imaginary.
